Description

The legendary precursor to The Lord of the Rings

"A creation of singular beauty . . . magnificent in its best moments."--The Washington Post

Set primarily in the First Age of Middle-earth, The Silmarillion contains the legend of the creation of the world and an account of the Elder Days. It is the ancient drama remembered by Elrond and Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings, and the harrowing origin of the adventure that ends ages later with Frodo and the One Ring.

At the story's heart are the three Silmarils, jewels that held within them the Light of the Two Trees of Valinor, and Fëanor, the most gifted of elven artificers. When the Two Trees are destroyed, the Silmarils become coveted, setting into motion events that lead to the rebellion of Fëanor and his kindred against the gods, their exile from Valinor, and their hopeless war against the greatest enemy Middle-earth has ever known: Morgoth.

Epic

I've known this story before i read the book, from wiki and videos on Youtube but then i read the book and WOW it's far better than watching videos or reading wiki.

Ainulindale was beautiful, nice opening to the lore, then the first chapters of Quenta Silmarill were a little bit slow but I enjoyed it anyway then as i moved on to the next chapters, they got better and better. my favorite chapter was and still is Akallabeth, it was surprisingly grand and awesome.

However, this book is not for everyone, like i said before about the first chapters. but once you In to the story, it's one hell of a ride

Silmarillion: An Enchanting Mythology of Middle Earth
By: Putri Prihatini

This is the book that starts everything; reading this will feel different from reading Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Silmarillion is told mostly in narration, giving the feeling that you are listening to a storyteller elaborating stories of days old; the time when Iluvatar created Valars; when one of the Valars fell to the dark side and became the first Dark Lord; when Elves, Men and Dwarves born; when greed, lust and bloody wars ended the more peaceful times; when Elven heroes were born, fought and fallen; and finally when Rings of Power forged. This is not just a fantasy fiction; Tolkien has managed to create his own mythology. If you enjoy Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, you must read the stories that started everything.
