Offred's Tale
By: Catherine Frances Corpuz

If I didn't know that this was written during the Cold War, I would have thought that it was just penned recently to reflect current distabilising circumstances. Atwood's Gilead dystopian society, wherein fertile women are subjected to child-bearing slavery, is alarmingly Orwellian with cult-like undertones. I will definitely read its sequel - The Testaments.

Dissapointed with the series?
By: Antonius B.

Well the reviews are in and they are raving it. But yet you can’t seem to enjoy the series. Is it something wrong with you? Or is it something wrong with the world? did the series hit too close to home to make it entertaining? Did the viral marketing makes you want to puke your heart out?

Well, why not give Atwood a chance at making you puke as well in this series-inspiring book. Follow a nameless woman as she lives through a weird fascist theocratic state (and anxiously compare them to your own). But wait, all is well when she realize that there is a way out of this mess, nbut will she do it?

YOU NEED TO READ THIS
By: Karin Sarwono

NOLITE TE BASTARDES CARBORUNDORUM. DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN.

in speculative fiction, i think i liked The Handmaid's Tale better than 1984. maybe because it was written by a woman and from the point of view of a woman in a world where your body doesnt belong to you anymore. it was thought-provoking and so scary because of how easy this book can turn into our reality. because even in 2018, some women still dont have the same freedom we do. i loved this book and i think everyone (women, men, and gender non-comforming people) should read it.

Mind-blowing
By: Stella Wenny

Mind-blowing. Just mind-blowing. To be honest, I can't really imagine how our society can go so much worse like depicted in this book, but humans are unpredictable. Humans could be monsters. How do you stay true to your values when society tells you to abandon them? When you don't really have choice? It's a question that's still very relatable to our current life, isn't it?

Love it!!
By: Nisrina Ulayya

I've read one of Atwood's book before this and it may be too soon to decide but I think she's one of the most amazing writer to ever write. It's rich, detailed, and I just love it.
