What happens to us if there are no authority to govern us? Ballard takes us to a variation on the theme of lord of the flies in this modern urban retelling of the story, whereby Ballard replaces the island with the modern version of an island; an apartment building.

Follow a wealthy group of individual as they try to survive apocalypse in a high-rise apartment. From this point onward the thousand-plus residents descend into madness where "new order had emerged, in which all life in the high-rise revolved around three obsessions - security, food and sex." This modern retelling of LoTF is realluy meh. 

This book is described as an adult version of Lord Of The Flies and I love the concept behind Lord Of The Flies so I picked this up. Well, I must say his writing is very good though the story is not that good. Still an enjoyable book though because I really liked the premise and the question about humanity.
