Beaten and bullied in his village, Jimmy looks to escape his torment in the army of World War 1. The horror of the deadly battlefields of war find him as a hero and cement his first, true friendship with Harry. In a cynical act of propaganda Harry and he are brought to Paris to receive the highest of honours for their bravery. Here Jimmy discovers a life beyond any he could have imagined.
