Description

A Time Best YA Book of All Time (2021)

This Printz Honor Book is a "tender, honest exploration of identity" (Publishers Weekly) that distills lyrical truths about family and friendship.

Aristotle is an angry teen with a brother in prison. Dante is a know-it-all who has an unusual way of looking at the world. When the two meet at the swimming pool, they seem to have nothing in common. But as the loners start spending time together, they discover that they share a special friendship--the kind that changes lives and lasts a lifetime. And it is through this friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves and the kind of people they want to be.

Aww how cute!

I was a little bit worried it would be overhyped, but at the end of the book, I grinned like an idiot! Seriously, it's lovely and adorable. This story simply tells you that each of us is entitled to an incredible life and we should stand up for ourselves no matter what!

A beautiful, honest, innocent and page-turning book.

There is this magic about Young Adult literature that you can't find in any other book category; its bravery, for example. But Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe single-handedly took my breath away with its beautiful, honest, innocent, sometimes painful exploration of growing up. Benjamin Alire Sáenz masterfully depicts the complexity of human emotions in such simple language. This book invites us to the universe of a young person, allowing us to experience all the aching, longing, pain, grief, love, rage, affection, jealousy in its most innocent way possible. The character revives the emotions that we didn't know existed within us. The way it... See More

tackles the family issue is also remarkable and it just resonates within me. With its poetic, simple innocence, this book successfully brought me to tears and taught me a lot about acceptance. Give this book a read and you won't regret it. At all.
