There's a reason why this book was written roughly 100 years ago, and is still on the top of nearly all lists naming the most influential books. Though some of the stories and imagery are outdated, the principles still ring true today!
I just read chapter 1, but the content is very insightful. Really recommended for someone who want to create good relations with many kinds of people.
Despite the title and the cover, which seems a little bit off-putting and old, this is a really good book. Not only tells us what to do to win friends and influence people, I also feel that this book also tells us to be more respectful of people's opinion. Sometimes the author would give such a long example stories that I nearly fell asleep, but I can tolerate that (actually it's because the author said this book should be read word by word lol).
Dale Carnegie reminds the reader that humans are not logical beings. Human has soul and body and all of his or her behavior is dominated by non-logical things. Dale Carnegie describes the principles to get friends and influence others. Getting friends and influencing others is not easy. It takes hard work and practice to master this skill. Dale Carnegie provides many examples of real-life people in dealing with people. Successful leader according to Dale Carnegie, is not a dictatorial leader who leads by violence, also not a leader who is only mastering the job technical skill, but is a person who has a high ability in handling people. This book is designed as a guide for the reader to practice so as to gain skills in dealing with human beings.
This book will teach you more practical techniques for healing yourself and others than a 4-year degree in psychology. If you want to learn how to get along with people, this book will steer you in the right direction. A must read.
