Absolutely stunning
By: Jessiana Angeline

Beautiful. Each words are captivating and weaved into such a stunning story. This book kept me waking all night til 4 am and i just sat still on my bed after closing the book, weeping. Never thought i’d be so indulged in a story surrounding the events of the Trojan War and i just want to embrace the two main characters so much. 5 stars for Miller!

Greek mythology for everybody
By: Nadia Karina

I think this book is perfect for everbody, either you’re a fan of the Greek mythology or not. Miller wrote this beautifully, she knows the story very well. The plot flows wonderfully, I got more and more excited every pages. I finished this book in just one sit because it was that good!

Ancient Greek Geek Would Love This!
By: Katrine Gabby Kusuma

We all know the story of Achilles, one of the greatest heroes of Ancient Greek and mostly known because of his heel. But not many people know about Patroclus, the sidekick. They met when they were little and been together since then. This is the story of one loving friendship, beautifully written by Madeline Miller, that left a pain in my heart after the last page. I mean, we all know how the Trojan War ends, but I kept reading this with a hopeful heart that maybe we’ll get a different result. Oh, well. But I guess we can’t get a better ending than this one. Not gonna spoil it, but I’m telling you: It is beautiful.

Tore My Heart
By: Octa Saktianti

It's kind of rare that I get too attached to the characters but I couldn't physically help it. The Iliad itself is majestic but Madeline Miller successfully retelling the story in a beautiful way. Also the book can make you cry in the public whilst left a lump in your throat.

Divine work of art by Madeline Miller
By: Farhan Hibatullah

*trying to write my thoughts down, because I'm still in shock and still broken for what happened after I finished reading the last sentence of this book* Okay This book is less than 400 pages. Should be easy for me to read this only with one sit reading, in a day. But it wasn't the matter of the number of the pages, that made me finish this book in several days. It was because I chose not to. Not to finish this book that quick.  Even though I was craving about how the story in this book would end, I didn't want to rush things. I didn't want to "only read" this book, but I wanted "to live" in every words written by Madeline Miller.  All... See More

praise to her work, to this debut book that she created for ten years. She poured everything she had in her mind beautifully, perfectly, to this book. Her effort for ten years did not come out as a failure, at all. I regard her, I praise her for this diamond.  She wrote this book through Patroclus' point of view, and as I read it, I felt the soul of him lives inside it. I felt that this book was written by him, by Patroclus himself. And I am broken. My heart is still broken. I actually didn't want to finish it, but it's happened. It's finished.  I do still want to read more about what's happening between Patroclus and Achilles. I want to know their stories, trough the brilliant work of Ms. Miller. How I love the way she depicted their stories, flawlessly, perfectly.  She said that in other stories, Patroclus was such an underdog, and she wanted to give him a voice, to let people know how he's been through all his life, and she did it! Patroclus is a hero, even Briseis told Achilles that Patroclus was worth ten of Achilles. I love how she retells the Trojan War. For those things, I couldn't stop thanking Madeline Miller, for this divine work. Thank you, thank you, thank you. “In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.” — Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles
