Defeated army not over a navy dismantled, scattered or destroyed 3 not over a rebellion triumphant but over her dear dead President, the nation sheds her bitter tears The man whom she hath loved as she never loved another man, save one; the man to whom she owed adobt of gratitude which every rolling year of all her coming history will only make more manifest the man who hath done more than any man to purge her of iniquity, to vindicate her honor.
