Paul Aster’s tortured work
By: A. Budi

This was the work of a master author at the very height of his storytelling powers.

With nary a thread out of place, Auster weaves a dazzling, intricate tapestry of the four Fergusons and along the way gives a marvelously detailed retelling of American civil history (with special focus on New York) during the years 1950-1970.

for Ferguson 3, I don't care much about the others. One thing I get from 4321 is that other people's choices (especially if they have power over us, ex: parents) affect our lives, no matter how hard we try to steer clear from them. Nice.
