"Nakakagutom", simply put means making one hungry. 

I gave this as a present to a friend who would like to learn how to cook Filipino dishes in response to the dearth of Filipino eating places in Jakarta. She remains a novice but she happily experiments with the recipes, tweaking them as the need arises.
