To reduce the environmental damage caused by agrochemicals over the last 20 years, there has been an increase in the research and usage of what are commonly called biological controls in order to combat agricultural pests. These can take a number of forms but typically consist of predators or diseases artificially released to destroy the pest. Such biological controls are being used successfully in many parts of the world.
