Slightly more political than the first book, follow Darrow as he builds his power structure across Mars. Reaper has ascended and a revolution is coming. Roque, Tactus, Cassius, Mustang and Sevro is back, but they’re not all on Darrow’s side. I don’t want to speak too much to the plot, but know that it is incredibly intricate, smart and sets the tone nicely for the third book.

I think it a step down from book one, but still good. it did drag in the beginning for me and suffered slightly from second book syndrome where it tries to set up the latter book while giving a call back to the first one.

I gave Red Rising a four stars. I loved it, but I deducted a star because of how it went very "hunger-games". This second book removed that aspect, but I still cannot give it a full five stars. This book is not as good as red rising because some parts are too slow for my liking but some quotes successfully linger on my mind longer than the previous book. Some things are got better, some are not so good for Darrow. However suit yourself and read this one. Still a recommended one.

I'm a fan of this series, definitely. Though there are some of the things I questioned in this book, but overall it's just a great science fiction book. Some people might argue that some of the characters in this book use a high language in their speech, but I think it's due to their caste so it's not a problem for me. For someone who would just ignore that kind of things, this book is a good read, especially in terms of the plot. Love it!
