This stunning and elegiac novel by the author of the internationally acclaimed Wind-Up Bird Chronicle has sold over 4 million copies in Japan and is now available to American audiences for the first time.  It is sure to be a literary event.

Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before.  Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable.  As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out to others and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman.

A poignant story of one college student's romantic coming-of-age, Norwegian Wood takes us to that distant place of a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love.

Murakami's style kind of romance
By: Eviana Misty
This book is 5 stars for me. Also, this book proved me that I can't get enough of Murakami. Many people doesn't like this book, maybe because this depressing theme, flat kind of plot, or anything. Thinking about this book doesn't deserved the popularity its having now. As a reader that already reads tons of Murakami before, I find it fine to me. Maybe this book not for the first timer, you should be familiar enough with Murakami to enjoy it. But maybe because everyone love romance stories (and almost every writer ever write a romance), this is Murakami's style kind of romance.

An Insight on Life, Explicitly Enigmatic
By: Ratna Apsari

Murakami has always been my number one favourite. This book is just skillfully written. It could be quite erotic at times, and Murakami's descriptions are always explicit--there's no hiding anything with him--but the story is so enigmatic that none of that matters too much once you get invested in the plot. This book made me think a lot, and there are so many killer lines waiting to be discovered within the pages that I keep reading on and on and on. Got me in tears from the first ten pages--and I know in an instant that this book is gold.

An Enchanting Book
By: Vina Anastasia

Once you start reading this book, you can't seem to put it down. This book is about youth romance, college life and growing up but with a twist. Pretty dark in general and can be pretty erotic at times but it makes you think of your youth life. About how your life starts from college onwards. A very recommended read.
