Description

A vivid, passionate and intensely moving novel from prize-winning author John Green. "In the dark beside me, she smelled of sweat and sunshine and vanilla and on that thin-mooned night I could see little more than her silhouette, but even in the dark, I could see her eyes - fierce emeralds. And not just beautiful, but hot too." BEFORE. Miles Halter's whole life has been one big non-event until he starts at anything-but-boring Culver Creek Boarding School and meets Alaska Young. Gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, screwed up and utterly fascinating she pulls Miles into her world, launches him into a new life, and steals his heart. But when tragedy strikes, and Miles comes face-to-face with death he discovers the value of living and loving unconditionally. AFTER: Nothing will ever be the same. Poignant, funny, heartbreaking and compelling, this novel will stay with you forever.

Great book!
By: Winoko Christofel

This is the second John Green book I read after The Fault in our Stars. It's definitely different  from TFIOS, but there's something I like about John Green's writing, the way his character from his book is all pretentious and all but I still found myself interested with the story even though it's kinda unrealistic for teenagers to act that way. The story is as heartbreaking as TFIOS. A thought provoking book for sure about friendship love and hope.

awful
By: Evelyn Mulyono

I did not finish this awful books. This book was just too much bad things, too much smoking, too much sex, too much drinking and of course too much foul language. As a teenager, I hate it so much. I did not care about any other character except Miles and I hated how he just went along with everything thrown in his path without a second though (drinking, porn, smoking, etc.)

Another great story line written by John Green, I must say. I can't help myself but keep reading every pages of the book. A very heart touching story for someone you love.

Another Enjoyable Read
By: Rizaldi Rachman

Here's the thing. I think safe to say, John Green already got his formula to create a really great book to read. It's consist of one female lead, one male lead and a similiar premis but with different excecution. At least that what you will find in 'Looking for Alaska' and 'Paper Town'. Both of the books gives similiar taste but, while Paper Town providing more fun, mischievous, and bright story, Looking for Alaska will gives you slightly the opposite.

You will find how deep, and gloom this story about alaska is. while in some pages you will turn your lip to smile for reading some jokes by the main character, you will still find this novel to be a... See More

serious one.

You will find the mysteries to solve while reading this books till the last page. you will questioning the story and the background of each character. Haha.. and to be honest this book will set the great mysteries in the end of it and it's really up to you how to solve (by 'solve' i mean interpret) the ending yourself.

just not for me
By: Adnina Hariningrum

i love TFIOS and looking for alaska is one of the most popular John Green's book so  thought i might give it a try. the fact is, i cannot enjoy the book. the book has different plot story than just a teenage romance drama in highschool. what makes a novel is a good novel for me is the ability of the writer to make us the reader feels what it suppossed to be felt in th story and i cannot feel anything reading this book. i cannot feel the joy the happiness even the sadness. it surely gives me few insights about the real life outta there, about the characters that may not be seen so often yet so close to the reality, but i just thought that it's not for me. :)
