Concise Guide to Medicines & Drugs
By: Dine Rostianti

This book is divided into 3 major parts, namely "Major drug groups", "A-Z drugs", and "Drug finder and index". The "Major drug groups" section is divided according to the work targets of the drugs, namely Brain and Nervous System; Respiratory System; Heart and Circulation; Gastrointestinal Tract; Muscles, Bones, and Joints; Allergy; Infections and Infestations; Hormones and Endocrine System; Nutrition; Malignant and Immune Disease; Reproductive and Urinary Tracts; Eyes and Ears; and Skin.

In the "A-Z drugs" section, drugs are arranged alphabetically by generic name. In each generic drug name, several trade names are listed,... See More

then there is a Quick Reference containing pharmacological groups, overdose danger and dependence; and the status of a doctor's prescription or over-the-counter. Then, there is a brief explanation of General Information, information on how to use, frequency of use and dosage, onset, duration, dietary advice, storage, records of missed doses, stopping drugs and excess drugs, possible adverse effects, interactions, special precautions and prolonged use. The length of exposure of each drug is about 1 page.

In the "Drug finder and index" section, a brief description of the drug is listed along with the destination page.

The language in this book is concise and simple, so estimated that it will be easily understood by people who do not have a medical or pharmaceutical background. Even though there is a statement on the cover of the book that this book is a reference to more than 3000 prescription and over-the-counter medicines, however, not all drugs are discussed in detail, some are included as part of the pharmacological group.
