Warning: Slow Going
By: Aprelda Elsana

I don't mind slow going and some people say this book is boring and poor writing that confuse them. I think it's not poor writing. Just... the narrative voice and all of character dialogue sounded exactly alike. The story is great, the idea is great. When Hansu asked Sunja to call him Oppa, ha ha ha jinjja You need read the rest, then watch the series. I'd like to do that. I also want to read the Indonesian version of this book.

Gracefully written
By: Ruth Margareth

This book is straight narrative, has many characters that don't last until the end, but they way it's told is so effortless and full of grace that when you're left with open endings after some particular chapters, you feel like you have to stop and take deep breaths. Pachinko, I realize, is not a book that want to teach or patronize you with its plot and conflicts, rather it gives you spaces for judgement. At the end of it, your head will be so clouded with "why" and "what-ifs", and I guess we, the readers, have our whole lives to ponder upon the unfolding of this family saga.

Pachinko
By: Sandra Atmadja

The fact that this novel has been named one of the 10 best books of 2017 by The New York Times tells all. The writer flawlessly mixes history and humanity aspects across four generations in Korea.
