Description

A must read for anyone serious about the positive power of persuasion, from a leading behavioral change expert. The ability to sway others gives people the power to set new realities into motion. Yet most people could use some work on their communication behaviors in order to increase their long-term ability to influence the people around them. Swayed helps decode the intricate system of influence that relies on mutual attention and understanding. Using her proven methodology as well as real examples and practices readers can put to immediate use, Christina Harbridge provides a detailed set of actions that teaches us to communicate so people really hear us. Swayed instructs us to both understand natural human tendencies around communication and to use new habits to communicate in ways that will bring us closer to our desired outcomes in business and in life. With the Swayed model readers will learn to avoid being pulled into old, reflexive communication habits such as speaking in sweeping statements and using meaningless buzzwords, or emphasizing being right over being understood.

The medium is the message
By: Catherine Frances Corpuz

The need for contextualising communication is not surprising given short attention spans, multiple competing agendas and limited time in our daily lives. Maximising every opportunity to influence behavior and decision making is crucial. As such, Christina Harbridge's application of the context model in various levels of professional and personal lives makes it a practical and interesting read.

It's a valuable yet simple to follow reference for self-training.

Communication by Design to Influence
By: Dine Rostianti

The first thing presented in this book is a reality check on being a human being that humans are irrational and emotional.

In each chapter, Christina Harbridge provides examples of communication that are often encountered in the real working environment and everyday life as parents. These examples could help readers understand the concepts presented. Each chapter is accompanied by deliberate practice suggestions to improve communication skills and questions that help readers review their own communication. These help the reader to apply the concept of each chapter in their communication.

communication by design based on the character of the end user, and not communication by default, based on the habit of the speaker.

This book offers a context model to be applied in presentations, feedback, delegation and direction, improving conflict, listen to improve outcomes, and practice for parents.

With all the concepts, examples, deliberate practices suggestions and questions in each chapter, this book is suitable as a practical guide in improving effective communication skills to influence and achieve the expected goals.
