Praise for Carve the Mark:

"Roth skillfully weaves the careful world-building and intricate web of characters that distinguished Divergent." --VOYA (starred review)

"Roth offers a richly imagined, often brutal world of political intrigue and adventure, with a slow-burning romance at its core." --ALA Booklist

Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth have grown up in enemy countries locked in a long-standing fight for dominance over their shared planet. When Akos and his brother are kidnapped by the ruling Noavek family, Akos is forced to serve Cyra, the sister of a dictator who governs with violence and fear. Cyra is known for her deadly power of transferring extraordinary pain unto others with simple touch, and her tyrant brother uses her as a weapon against those who challenge him. But as Akos fights for his own survival, he recognizes that Cyra is also fighting for hers, and that her true gift--resilience--might be what saves them both.

When Akos and Cyra are caught in the middle of a raging rebellion, everything they've been led to believe about their world and themselves must be called into question. But fighting for what's right might mean betraying their countries, their families, and each other.

When the time comes, will they choose loyalty or love?

And don't miss The Fates Divide, Veronica Roth's powerful follow-up novel!

meh
By: Fabiola Lawandi

I could honestly say that this is probably the worst book sitting on my bookshelf right now. I had to drag myself throughout this book in order to finish it. It is so boring, way to lengthy, and I almost quit a few times while reading. Veronica Roth is trying too hard to be original in this book, why can't she write it the way she wrote divergent.

Um... maybe I'm too old for this
By: Nisrina Ulayya

I felt it wasn't such a long time ago that I was enjoying almost every YA stories, about youth and heroism, definitely lacking the follies. Then I was older and stumbled into this book and it was a hardcover and cheap, so I thought about giving it a go. But then when I read it, I definitely felt nothing but confusion. I wondered what the plot is, some serious aspect of the world-building, and sometimes, the depth of this character. It was awfully slow, and I feel like there's nothing to be excited about as I flipped through the pages. It was only the thought of spending some money for this piece of literature that keeps me going, otherwise I felt no motivation whatsoever to find out the end. I don't know, maybe I'm just too old and boring for this book.

fast read there
By: Enrico Efendi

I feel like I'm the only one who really loves this book very dearly. I was so happy I read it very quickly and I felt so relieved somehow. I love how Roth built the world and the characters. They all are so rich and diverse, but the thing I really like about this is the characters' development, especially Cyra.

If any of you are aware of the issue going on concerning this book, you might know that many people thought that Veronica Roth was being racist in this book. But, if it's analyzed more deeply, Roth wasn't being racist. We just should understand the concept of the book well enough before opening up that kind of issue.

other hand, is pretty much the monotone, however I can differentiate how Cyra and Akos sound. I meant, Akos and Cyra has their own voices and Roth wrote this book with two perspectives well. If you're searching for a nice book to skim over and you're in to fantasy with a spark of science fiction, this is a very good choice. Really recommend this book.

Not As Exciting As Divergent
By: Yunia Damayantii

The plot is dull and also boring. But I appreciate the main characters, Akos and Cyra.

Very disappointed for some kind of Veronica Roth's. I think I'm gonna give a second chance for the second book.
