Pretty Girls was so amazing I lost my sleep because of it. It was dark, brutal, honest, with a hint of feminism that made me hooked. Gone was the previous murder/mystery books filled with personal casualties, because this was wide and wild. Claire made a good protagonist. She was uncompromised, strong-willed, and resourceful. She wasn't shy away from admitting things she didn't know, but also, she was clever than most. Sure, she started out confused and seemed like... See More ignorant, but let me tell you that Claire knew things. It was buried deep behind the facade of ordinary pretty girl. She could connect the dots faster and she was unfazed by everything that had happened. Claire's bond with Lydia was easy to connect to. Lydia was the wild child, the black sheep, the one everyone hated. And counting everything that she did, she managed to do well after, raising her kid and protecting herself. The theme around the novel was dark, like, Criminal Minds dark (Idk I hate dark things that are too dark does that make sense?) The pursuit and the ending were satisfying. 4 stars.
