Robert Galbraith created a male lead character, Cormoran Strike, with a miserable life. Disabled, family background is far from perfect, dumped by his girlfriend, business is in a state of deterioration and has no adequate place to live. In this first book, Cormoran Strike is described as being in a deteriorating condition of life.
The first case he faced was related to the family of his childhood friend, the murder of a model who was initially suspected of suicide. At the end of the story it turns out the killer was very unexpected beforehand. Robert Galbraith in this first book managed to create an interesting mystery, with the end of the story that is not cliché.
