Description

Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.
When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn't know is that Nick's family home happens to look like a palace, that she'll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia's most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick's formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should--and should not--marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider's look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich.

Dijamin nggak sabar baca lanjutannya!

crazily awesome!

This is the first time I read this kind of drama in a novel. Honeslty, I was skeptical the first time, thought that it was just overhype story based on people's sentimental about Asians' representation in movies in the USA (it was hype when it was adapted into a movie not long ago).

I am glad I was wrong though. This is a new kind of novel that I'm happy to say as one of my favorites! It's well-written, smart, and engaging in a more realistic way than I expected. Well done!

Great start to a series.

Loved the movie and bought the book.

A good chick-lit and It’s bit different from the movie, but all the main plot points are covered.

It's very plot driven, and has a cliffhanger endings. Maybe the other books in the trilogy answer my questions

Again, the book is better than the movie
By: Ramadion Syamsuir

Colorful characters with settings familiar to those who have travelled to Singapore. You might already know the plot, an American professor who go to Singapore with her boyfriend and found out that the BF is a son a crazy rich Asians family.

But in the book, you will get a better glimpse of how these rich people lives, seeing that Kevin Kwan's friends are the real-life inspirations for the book. These people are hillarious, sometimes warm and most of all, still humans. Some of the dialogue made by the uncles and the aunties sometimes are more funny than the main plot itself.

Also, you can try to pass yourself as if you are a true Singaporean in a hawker center after learning their slang and terms from the book, haha..
