Description

Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird'. A lawyer's advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel - a black man charged with the rape of a white girl. Through the young eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with exuberant humour the irrationality of adult attitudes to race and class in the Deep South of the thirties. The conscience of a town steeped in prejudice, violence and hypocrisy is pricked by the stamina of one man's struggle for justice. But the weight of history will only tolerate so much. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a coming-of-age story, an anti-racist novel, a historical drama of the Great Depression and a sublime example of the Southern writing tradition.

By: Handiko Wijaya

To Kill a Mockingbird is a undefined book by words. you may read it in english class and you may find it boring, but it's not. Atticus is the perfect father figure we always wish for, and Scout and Jem is us. curious about things and learn so many about life from life itself and from Atticus. all the lessons in this book are priceless and won't be forgotten. To Kill a Mockingbird is a warm and a perfect book for all time. 10/10

A fantastic book
By: Tantrini Kusumastuti

This really is the best book I have ever read. It is funny, touching, moving and thought provoking.

This might seem a little slow to read, but it is a wonderful book. In fact you learn to think like a little child. You learn that humans as they grow up they become something they no child ever really wants to be. I must say I learned a lot about how black people were treated and how the lives of white americans were at that time by reading this book.

Great book
By: Nisrina Ulayya

I heard a lot of good reviews about this book but it took me a while before I really get a hold of this piece. Well, I can say that this book didn't disappoint me. Rather than using the point of view of the victim, this book tackles one of the most important issues by using the point of view of a little girl. It is unusual, yet makes it very easy to read. Such a heart-warming, great book.

An Important Read to All.
By: Ayundita Batari

I won't say this story is one of my top favourite for nothing. I got acquainted with this story when I was still in highschool. I have been re-reading it from time to time since and can only praise Harper Lee's brilliance in writing this story more each time. The book discusses a very important social issue that we still experience today and perhaps many many years to come, that is, the issue of discrimination. It's a very witty, heartwarming, timeless, and profound read, told from the point of view of a growing child. It's got a challenging writing style rich with the Southern American dialect. I enjoyed it very much. Also, I particularly love this book editionĀ  because it has a beautiful yet simplistic cover and it has a compact size. Perfect! Everyone should read this. <3
