Honestly, I read this book because I watched the HBO Series first. But turns out, I feel so curious about the real novel. Then I read it. First thing I can say about this book is.... disturbing, yet  enchanting. Like the second you read this book, you can't put it down. Flynn writes so well and disturbingly tasty somehow. She can creates the character so well, making you feel like you are so closer to Camille and somehow sympathize Amma. You can feel the rush and thrilling details in this novel. You won't regret it. 

“Some women aren’t made to be mothers. And some women aren’t made to be daughters.”

This is becoming a premise for a dark nasty story. The darkness is engulfing all the characters, the plot line, the ambiance, and every other aspect from beginning to end. Don’t read it if you can’t stomach it. The good thing is, as much as we need a good female protagonist, we need a good female villain, and this book fulfils it, albeit a bit predictable no matter how many red herrings the author tries to show. 

This is my first Gillian Flynn's works I've ever read, and I really don't know how to express my overwhelming emotions after reading this...this nasty nasty, disturbingly amazing book.

I think this is exactly the kind of psychological thriller book that made you fall completely in love with this genre, or rather disgustingly in love. This story is so so dark, with horrible characters (really, not even a single character has a redeeming quality!), and mind-blowing story. And that twist at the end? You must be kidding me. And here I thought nothing could top Gone Girl (which I only watched, not yet read). How wrong I was! Surely, this book is a must.

I got shiver reading the last few chapters because the truth is blown my mind, my brain had hard time to accept that.

The story was depressing.  Too dark, it leaves you with a dark feeling.  I do not recommend this book if you want to read book which entertains. This book leaves you feeling low.  The story plot is quite good. Gillian Flynn can describe damaged characters very well. Still, if you want something uplifting, this book is surely not for you.
