Description

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister, Penryn, will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where Penryn will risk everything to rescue her sister, and Raffe will put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

"Ee's debut novel is a promising opener to what looks to be a YA series worth following, one that explores what it means to be human and what it means to be a hero." --Locus Magazine, March 2012

Beautiful writing style.
By: Maria Prima Yudanti

I'm struggling between 3 and 4 star, it's 3 1/2 actually. I really did enjoy the first few chapter, and then come the half of the story, uh... I get bored, and that took me two days to finally finished the rest 60% of the page in one sitting cause the last few chapter is so good I can't put it down! I have no problem with the writing style and an angel genre, but the world building and the eerie... See More

bloodily things are just not for me. I like Penryn the main character and our POV teller, a lot! It's Raffe who I dislike, well not really dislike him, I just could't connected to him, like I didn't get to know him. Maybe I'm just as confuse as the POV about him cause we all not know that much about his past life, or about the angel's politics that happen in the book. The idea of the main story it self which take away my 1 star, maybe because of the main reason of this story happen is just happen in the very beginning of the story and for me the main reason of Penryn take the risk to save her sister wasn't told strong enough. Like I didn't get the greatest connection between the sister bond. But the ending satisfy me enough, so I would still love to recommend this book to everyone, who like some kind of Angelic theme with apocalypse world, with maybe a little romantic story here and there.  I'm looking forward for the next book, cause I hope to know more about Raffe and more angelic politics that happen.
