Toru, a quiet and preternaturally serious young college student in Tokyo, is devoted to Naoko, a beautiful and introspective young woman, but their mutual passion is marked by the tragic death of their best friend years before. Toru begins to adapt to campus life and the loneliness and isolation he faces there, but Naoko finds the pressures and responsibilities of life unbearable. As she retreats further into her own world, Toru finds himself reaching out to others and drawn to a fiercely independent and sexually liberated young woman.
A poignant story of one college student's romantic coming-of-age, Norwegian Wood takes us to that distant place of a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love.

This is the first Haruki Murakami novel that I read and I really surprised how much I love it. His writing style is a bit unusual, weird even. But at the same time, he can write such a mundane event/things in such an interesting way. I love how he describe the things and even, it feels like dreaming with your eyes open. After reading this one book in particular, I bought way so many books that he had written and I love each book. This one book is a great place to start.
It is the type of book with slow story, sometime is strange and lonely, but life can still be beautiful.
It is story that give you the feeling that life sometime is strange and lonely, dark and depressing. But after all, life can still be beautiful.
