I always dream of what is it like to live in Tokyo and this book sends me to the most amazing and, at the same time, magical feeling. The illustation of the dailylife is superb. It's like reading a fun memoar of a very usual human being in a very normal unusual place.
This book is perfect.
reading this book is giving me a personal flashbacks when i was walking on the streets and suburbs of Tokyo
Really love the watercolor illustrations. This book is a must have if you love Japan's culture.
This book describes Tokyo meticolously, satire-y and funny. The Author draw the colorful city map, people on the street, police officer (and the bad experiences happened to him there), his tiny shared-house with the neighborhoods, Japanese disgusting creatures, and striking buildings. You can't read recommendations for living, food, etc, like a common city guide book. Because it's not a city guide book, indeed. But, it will tell you about how it feels to be foreigner from Western country in Tokyo for 6 months and what he found there.
[Tokyo on Foot] will make readers with wanderlust wish to drop their everyday responsibilities and trek through a foreign city. It will appeal to the armchair traveler who yearns for a bit of the exotic, the wanderer who wants to someday visit the Land of the Rising Sun, and, indeed, anyone who appreciates the marriage of grit and beauty, self-deprecating wit, and losing oneself in good pictures for a while.
